My Father in law!

Hall of Fame : TOM PRITCHARD

Tom Pritchard did not get his start in the "Typical born in a bakery - famiy business" type of beginning. His Mother loved to bake homemae bread, pies, and cinnamon rolls. When she developed severe Rhrumatioid Arthritis he learned the "rudiments" of the baking and cooking as a matter of necessity, never planning on pursuing a baking career.

When he got out of the Navy in 1969 he started to work at Randall Foods in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He worked in the bakery and learned baking with Karl Miesemer, a Greman master Baker and Bernard DeBoer, a Dutch Master Baker, he learned on the job. In April of 1980 Tom took over as manager of the bakery. Tome worked tirelessly for Randall's achieving several awards for his proficiency and skill. He spoke at the National Grocer's convention on " Running a Profitable Bakery."

In 1992 he achieved Master Baker Certification in the Retai Baker's Association. In 1998 he went to work for HyVee in Fort Dodge, Iowa. This bakery has been in the " million dollar sales club," the last two years! The sales have topped the million dollare mark by $200,000,000 and $300,000,000.

Tom was a member, Board Memeber , and President of the Iowa Bakers. Since 2007 he has been on the Upper Miswest Bakery Assocaiton Board. In 2008 he became an instructor in the Culinary Arts program at the local Community College. He teaches Basic and Adavanced Baking and pastry classes.
Tom's children have spent many years in the baking trade. Tom's partner in the baking industry is his wife Judy  who works with him every day. Tom enjoys being able to share his passion for scatch baking with his Grand children also!

2010 at our home!

I have been attending a wonderul bible study with a few friends. This past week, I heard something I think I will share! "We do not need a God that we can hold, We need a God that holds us." How true of a statement is that! WOW...I have never thought about it that much. How many times in your life have you wanted God to appear and talk to you, face to face? However, that is not how God works, he carries us and holds us! He is there for us, all we have to do is ask.
Well, to change the subject, we have been oh so busy. It's basketball season, soccer sign-ups, baseball sign-ups, softball meeting and practices. Meetings for Girls Scouts, March of Dimes, School and everything else. Ch- has been doing really well at Cosmo, Br- is really good at basketball, she has made alot of goals this year! D- is starting to read and spell words. He turned "5" last week. The weather has been really bad this year. We have gotten a total of 14 inches in the last two months. For us that is alot.
I will be posting pics on here soon! Hope everyone enjoys our thoughts for the day. Have a great week!

Sacrifice

I have been thinking of this alot lately! What do you think this word means? Do you think that others should ask us to Sacrifice something we really like for them? Something that will not hurt you and is not wrong in any way? What have you sacrificed for someone you love? What is to much and what is wrong of them to ask of you? How much is to much? Let me know what you are thinking.

Christmas Eve

This week has been crazy! 58 degrees the first part and today it starts out 40 then drops to 30 with wind, ice and snow. I guess we will have a white Christmas after all. M's family always has chili on christmas eve. So, year after year, I make sure he has chili on Christmas eve. This year, we put a little spin on it. We used Elk meat! It was really good stuff. Now, we are tracking Santa on the Santa track. The kids are all excited. I love Christmas with the kids. They make it so much fun! Tomorrow will be filled with the unwrapping of gifts, over stuffing of food. What great memories! I will post pics of the day in the coming week.

I really hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!!!!!!! We love all our family and friends! Happy New Year too!

7yrs. ago tomorrow!

\

November 25th, 2002. This date will forever be in our minds! This is the day that our sweet Angel went to heaven. 7 yrs. of what if's. 7 yrs. now without him in our arms! We have met alot of people through this "season" of our lifes. When I was PG with Mark Jr. it was a wonderful blessing. We had prayed for 3 years to have another baby. On November 22nd, we took the kids to an Ultrasound to find out the sex of our baby. The girls were so excited! We went in for the Ultsrasound, we saw his face and everything. The nurse said wait here. When she came back, she had us go into a room with out the kids. The Dr. was there. All I remember is him saying " I am sorry, we couldn't find his heartbeat." I was 21.5 weeks along. What do you mean you can't find the heart beat. WHY? WHAT? HOW?. I was totally lost. That night, my parents and sister came to town to be with us. On Saturday we went to the funeral home to pick out a casket for a baby that we hadn't met. On Monday, November 24th, 2002 I was induced to give birth to our Still son. It was a very long day! Induced at 9 AM and I gave birth to him at 6:14 pm.. Our first born son. Born still!
It was one of the sadest days of our lifes. Tomorrow will mark 7 yrs.
Today I pray for all the moms that are Pregnant Please take the time to hold your kids tight. God has blessed us with more than we will ever know.

Week # 5

D at the Fair! What a fun night we had!
Okay....not as well as the past weeks, but it's still a loss! I have lost a total of 15.8 lbs. Reached the 5% of my weight goal. This week I have added walking to see if it helps. The weather has been perfect for it.

These past weeks since school started have been so busy. Soccer, Softball, T-ball, Play Practice, ACT prep, ACT Test, Girl Scouts, Weight Watchers, School fundraiser, Bible study, the house and life. I feel like it's started again...the stress of a busy life. I am taking time out for me. Hanging with friends during the week and doing bible study! Loving that the kids are growing up healthy and happy.

This week it's raining and so the walking has not been as good as it should be. Still thinking about joining the YMCA. Not sure I have the energy to go everyday! lol This week was labor day so , no weigh in. Looking forward to next Monday. I am hoping for my second 5lb star!

The walk last night made me have more energy, so, I will walk again tonight! Thanks for checking in. I will try to post at least twice a week.

Today is the end of living LARGE!

Today I went to the Dr. I checked in at 301 lbs. Yes, 301lbs. I have never been this heavy in my life! I have been saying for years that I will lose weight. I have lost 20 here and 40 here and then gain it all back.

Today is the day I will start eating right, living right! I will watch everything I put in my body that God gave me. I will only go out when I feel I can handle it and make the right choices! I will walk when I can and exercise every day!

I would like to say GOOD BYE to bad habits, GOOD BYE to all the laziness. Please pray with me about this journey! Thank you. I will keep you posted, day by day! Tonight, I am walking to the corner and back. I think it's only .83 mile! But, it's a start!!!!!
